When you list companies doing their part to help the planet, McIntosh Energy, a fuel company, may not jump to mind. It’s true we sell fossil fuels and work with fleet companies. But don’t think that we don’t love our little green planet too. McIntosh Energy has made several efforts to be more earth friendly. Listed below are just a few ways we do our part to help the planet.
LED
We are in the process of upgrading all of the lights at our retail locations to LED lighting. At a couple of our retail locations the process is already completed. The United States Department of Energy projects that the widespread use of LED lighting can defer 246 million metric tons of carbon entering the environment over several years (according to an article cited by ledsource.com). LED lights have the benefit of being mercury free. The more LED lights and the fewer Compact Fluorescent Lamps used, the less mercury hits our landfills. By using LED lights we help the planet by reducing future toxin levels in the ground.
DEF
As our trucker friends know, DEF is a great way to help reduce dangerous emmissions. Diesel Exhaust Fluid or DEF is a water-based solution that goes into the engine’s hot exhaust stream and over a catalyst to convert dangerous nitrogen oxides into harmless nitrogen and water.
It is true that DEF is a requirement and that many locations offer it, but McIntosh Energy takes it up a notch by offering DEF at the pump. A driver can fuel up and get his/her DEF in one stop. No more lugging DEF container and pouring yourself. Less risk of a spill.
Wet Hosing
Here at McIntosh Energy we also do wet hosing. We can deliver fuel for your equipment or entire fleet – saving you time, energy and fuel. Combine this with the controls and data of our Pacific Pride Advantage Card, a fleet manager has all the resources he/she needs to be more efficient.
